After a major fire puts the structural soundness of this 100-year old home into question, it is now an award-winning restoration and remodeling project.

This complex project also included changing the structural support system for the home, removing dirt to have more ceiling height, adding trench drainage around the stone walls, installing a boiler system in the slab and exterior porch for heat and to the steps to melt winter ice. It also included a significant remodel to the home's kitchen and main floor, to modernize while maintaining the home's old charm.

Missouri Contracting and Cleaning won the 2005 Chrysalis Remodeling Award for "Best Project - Insurance Restoration" in the Midwest region for this project. Chrysalis Awards are judged by editors and writers of Better Homes & Gardens, Woman's Day Special Interest Publications, Southern Living, and HGTVPro. Entries were judged on overall design, the creative use of space and materials, and the degree to which the project enhanced the original structure.
